Welcome to the Year 4 page.

We are as busy as bees in Year 4.

The teachers in Year 4 are Mrs Hanna, Ms McCabe, Mrs McBride (Mr Reid) and Mr O’Neill.

In Year 4 we are now excellent at organising ourselves for the day at school. We are very independent, remembering to change our Accelerated Reading book each morning, choosing our snack and putting away our schoolbags and lunch boxes.

We are continuing to learn all about Kipper and his family in the Oxford Reading Tree Books.  This year we will be moving on to read longer stories and novels using the Tree Tops Scheme.

One of our favourite times of the day is when we get to use the iPads for our learning. We love using them to research topics, demonstrate our learning as well as for fun stuff! Interactive, online learning is always fun but we must remember that we need to stay safe when we are online. Look at our E-safety messages from Cyber Tiger on the E-Safety page for how to stay safe online.

In Year 4 we begin to use Accelerated Reading, there is always competition to see who can read the most words. (Hopefully we will have some Word Millionaires this year) In Accelerated Maths we aim to master as many math's objectives as we can.

The topics we are working on this year are Reach For The Stars, Them Bones, Them Bones and It's a bugs life.  Remember to ask your child about our topic work and what we have been discovering in class.

Homework is an opportunity for you to support your child's learning at home and to keep up to date with what is happening in class.  Please remember to keep a record of the  reading books which the children take home in their homework books.

This year we will be participating in the IFA fundamentals coaching and other sporting activities. PE gear is kept in school and goes home each half term. Remember to clearly mark all of your child's belongings with their name to prevent any mix ups.

Shared Education starts in Year 4.  We will be joining Fairview Primary School, for seven Fridays, to enjoy some fun lessons and two school trips together.  An opportunity to meet new people and make friends.

In Year 4 there are lots of opportunities to join after school clubs. - Please contact Mrs McBrien for further details.

Keep checking this page for further updates.
